Who We Are
We are alumnae members of the Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity for Women. We pledged our loyalty for Zeta Tau Alpha at colleges and
universities all across the United States. We have diverse backgrounds and interests, but share the same ideals, goals and
sisterhood.
We live in the western sections of Northern Virginia, including but not limited to Ashburn, Centreville, Chantilly, Fairfax,
Great Falls, Herndon, Manassas, Reston and Sterling.
Join our Chapter
Send us an e-mail and let us know that you are interested. We'll contact you about our next function and send a newsletter
and calendar of events. Dues are $40 for the year! That's less than one month's dues in college!
What Do We Do?
We meet throughout the year to socialize, participate in service projects, raise money for our philanthropy, attend cultural
and educational programs, and support our local collegiate chapters.
We generally meet once a month at a number of convenient locations in the area including restaurants, members' homes,
and Rachel Carson Middle School in Herndon.
We participate in numerous service activities throughout the year including those in support of our national philanthropy,
breast cancer research and education. One of those activities is the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation's THINK-PINK!® program in
October, breast cancer awareness month, during which time we distribute the "One in Eight" Breast Self-Examination
Calendar Reminder Stickers in our neighborhoods and pink ribbons at a Washington Redskins home game. In the spring, we also
spend time volunteering for the Susan G. Komen National Race for the Cure, with both registration and race day activities.
Many of our members also participate in the race. Outside of breast cancer awareness work, we also volunteer time/contribute
donations to many organizations in our area, including the Ronald McDonald House, Sullivan House, Cole's Closet, and the
Shephard Center Food Bank.
We fund raise throughout the year in order to contribute to the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation, which provides educational
programs, scholarships and leadership training for our members as well as financial support to the Susan G. Komen Foundation,
for breast cancer research and education.
We assist the Northern Virginia Alumnae Panhellenic Association in their activities. We help selling tickets to a Panhellenic
sponsored play each year to raise money for two college scholarship. Additionally, we assist in the group with their annual
gift wrapping event to raise money for the juvenile diabetes research.
We support our local collegiate chapters. Primarily, we support Gamma Kappa Chapter of ZTA at James Madison University,
by sending encouragement in the form of gift boxes and having a special event for the graduating seniors in order to welcome
them to the alumnae world.
We also try to have as much fun as possible! Some of the fun activities that we have done in the past include: potluck
dinners, barbecues, cookie exchanges, dinner and a movie at a local cinema draft house, happy hour, paint your own pottery,
strawberry socials, holiday parties, crafting, road trips, wine tasting, Virginia Zeta Day, tea parties, and hiking on local
nature trails.
